Texting
Hello, I just got the free droid incredible at Best Buy a couple of days ago, and started looking for a web site to help me figure this thing out. Let me start by saying that this is my first "smart" phone. I have been playing with the phone and the first thing that is giving me trouble is how it has the texting set up. Maybe im just old, but I liked the way all of my old phones had the texting set up, with just typing your message and then hit the send button. I had a hard time figuring out which picture was for sending. Also my key board is a little bigger, which is a help for me when I turn the phone side ways, but in that posistion I dont see any way to send the message. Can I get an old style "menue" for lack of a better word, for texting, or what am I missing in this new menue? Thanks for any help, and give me a break, im new.

Bring up your app drawer. It is the on screen button on the bottom left, the one with an up arrow. The app drawer is the menu that lists all the apps you have installed. They are responsible for all the functions of your phone. The app you want to select is called "messages". you can compose a text and send it up to 10 people, it works like email on a computer does.

Not sure what your question is exactly, but if you read through many of the forum posts on emial, texting, and browsing you'll find almost no one sticks with stock apps for these things. From what I've seen and been using, maildroid is one of the better email apps, handcent is one of the better texting apps, and dolphin is the most popular browser.
More to the point of your post, go to the market and get handcent sms for texting. It has a nice clearly marked send button. It also allows you to customize the keyboard you use. Not sure what phone or phone type you're coming from but you can have a qwerty in landscape and the old 123 dial pad in portrait, if that's what you're looking for.
As for an old style menu, you won't find too many of those on a smart phone like the incredible. Some apps will offer you a menu like you may have been used to in the past, but the phone its self will not. As razor said you will find most of your functionality in the app drawer (up arrow looking button on screen lower left hand corner). However the cool part about smartphones, android in particular is you can put just about any or everything on your home screens. Make a desktop type folder to group similar items like games, navigation apps, or shopping apps so you can quickly find items that you use a lot. Folders are extremely helpful once you start downloading apps, and they save space when your screens start to fill up. Plus you always have the option to set up scenes.
More on just about any topic can be found in the forums. So just throw a term in the search and check the results. (When searching try to avoid phrasing, but include as many terms as you can think of to get the best results.)
I hope this helps. If you have questions about anything I've mentioned in this post you can pm me and I'll get back to you.

Thanks for the information, I guess I just need to use it for a while and maybe I will like it better. Also Joshjunior said to turn it sideways to make it bigger, I have figured that out, and its a great help, my problem with that is that it seams to take a couple of minutes to understand that I have turned it. Is there a way to make it change any faster?

It might help if you calibrate the phone. Try this:
At your homescreen...selecte Menu -> Settings -> Display -> G Sensor Calibration

You folks are great. Thanks for all the help, I am sure I will have lots more questions in the next few weeks.

+1 Thanks, Marcismo55 !!
My Incredible is much more sensitive to portrait/landscape mode after being calibrated.

I think the answer to your original question is; When you're done typing your message, you can either hit done, or hit the back button on the bottom of the phone. It will then bring up the icon that you can hit, and send out the text.
