Installing the update.zip
Ok I know I probably can search around for this but my head is just pounding from waiting for all the froyo goodness....
Anyway I saw the link for the update.zip file
A few questions
1.) Will I have to perform a hard reset to install this? Will I lose my apps/settings etc
2.) Do I just copy it over to the SD card and it will recognize it from there?
Thanks in advance

Where did you see the update.zip? Can you post a link?

I need someone smarter than me to help. Will this work? Is it legit? Will it erase or delete any of my current info/apps?
HTC Droid Incredible Owners Can Manually Install Android OS 2.2

This works
Here are the instructions and the link to download the OTA update.
How to manually update your Droid Incredible to Froyo | Android Central
I downloaded the file, renamed it to update.zip and updated using the instructions and it worked. Make sure to put the update.zip file on your SD card, not on the internal memory (I made this mistake).
The update process is a bit weird, it kinda seems like it gets stuck, but just wait it out. For example, mine stayed on the Droid logo with two red dots for quite a while, but it moved on. Then it as on a black screen with some type of green arrow icon, and it moved on. It took 15-20 mins to complete.
Just wait it out -- DO NOT PULL YOUR BATTERY.
BTW, I was on the stock software.

So how many people are going to try this? I don' have time right now, but I am tired of waiting for it to be pushed to my phone.

I updated my phone earlier...just be sure when you rename the file by adding ".zip" you don't do it twice. I renamed the file on my PC and copied it to my SD card and couldn't get the update to work. I checked the filename and realized it was "Update.zip.zip". Once I deleted the extra ".zip" the update worked!
Navigating thru the UI seems to be much snappier than it was on 2.1...and not to mention the 720p video and tether as well. I haven't found any other issues so far.

I used the update file method too today. I had the correct builds and had not rooted or made any changes so it was smooth sailing for me. Love froyo.
I downloaded voice actions and it's like having voice command back from my wm days. I can activate voice command from my BT Voyager Pro and being able to send a text hands free is cool. Back to having the best phone on the planet. Nice.

I've been seeing to many post on several forums and some on Facebook having issue that requires a reset. So going to just wait for the OTA.
