This is a discussion on CNN reports: Android OS 2.2 and Flash 10.1 "by September" within the HTC Incredible General Discussion forums, part of the HTC Incredible Discussion category; Are these the droids you're looking for? - CNN.com...
Lol first it was the end of July, then it was early August, now it's sometime in September. Thanks to unrevoked, my phone is now completely free. So glad I don't have to sit around twiddling my thumbs waiting for Verizon.
School me on that one. What is the s-off tool?
This is very interesting but can we believe everything we see reported on CNN?
Yes, just installed s-off. S-off, is an unlocked bootloader. The short version is this results in a phone that is completely unlocked.
Previously, NAND was locked so you had to do most modifications through recovery (ie. ClockworkMod). You were also unable to flash radios. Through this tool, your phone is completely unlocked. So for instance, if I want to get rid of flash.apk, rather than having to boot to recovery, mount my /system partition, and run adb, I can just use root explorer with my phone booted.
It's basically total control over your phone, which can be a double edged sword because if you don't know what you're doing, you can really screw things up. But for those who are careful, it's a great release that has a lot of potential we've been waiting a long time to unlock.
CNN and Fox iffy on what they say. Now if it came from the BBC! I'd likely give it a 50/50 chance. LOL Dates are becoming meaniningless though.
The information I have listed regarding the rollout starting this weekend is from a far different source than these news articles. When I say they are trusted and have VERY good information, I'm not exaggerating. So basically, until they tell me otherwise, I would take it to the bank. That being said, both of us are hoping this doesn't come back to bite us in the ass.
Seriously, I think we really we really are going to start seeing it finally.
My friend got his 2.2 OTA update 2 nights ago on his Moto Droid
Why do ppl call our phones, "Dinc?" Makes it sound like a puny crappy phone or a sound effect when you flick something
You have Android now. Stop whining and complaining that iphone was easy/better... why the hell did you switch for?
If youre going to change phones, be sure you're able to accept "CHANGE" and yes thats a change in how things are done. Its plain and simple
Btw, have a nifty day! (^_^)
Now... wheres my beer???
