That sucks. I always play mine on full volume and have never experienced this.

Never had an issue with the speaker. Incredible stays at full volume and I use the speakerphone a lot.

I have already turned my incredible in once for the external speaker too and now about a week ago the same thing is happening to the second one too!!! I guess i will have to unroot and send it back in again. I hope that some update will not make it so i cannot root again.

i hear ya... hate to unroot. i'm digging the froyo setup i got now and would hate to have an update get pushed out that prevents rooting. but i'm sure once the update pushes out the unrevoked team will be on top of it to find another method of rooting.
Rooted Using Unrevoked 3.21
Custom Rom: Ruby 1.1.4
HBOOT 0.92
Radio Version: 2.15.00.07.28
S-OFF!!! Finally

geez... what a pain
Hope your next phone works for you!
Why do ppl call our phones, "Dinc?" Makes it sound like a puny crappy phone or a sound effect when you flick something
You have Android now. Stop whining and complaining that iphone was easy/better... why the hell did you switch for?
If youre going to change phones, be sure you're able to accept "CHANGE" and yes thats a change in how things are done. Its plain and simple
Btw, have a nifty day! (^_^)
Now... wheres my beer???

well, i'm glad that it wasn't just me with this experience! i'm on my fourth or fifth phone( i've lost track by this time!) because of this issue. i've been getting refurbs as replacement until this last one - its brand new, in the new packaging, etc. no problems yet, plus when i sent my phone back i was able to keep the extra battery, and all the accessories that come in the box. Yes, i did check with several verizon reps that said they just wanted the phone.

My speaker blew a couple of weeks ago, too. I pre-ordered and received this phone the day they were released so it is an "older" one if that makes a difference. I only use stock ringtones, and I do not play music through the speaker, so I'm not sure what caused it. Now I keep missing calls because the ringer sounds like crap and I can't hear it as well.
I'm torn, though. Otherwise, this phone works perfect. I hate to swap it for a refurb that may or may not have other issues, plus go through battery conditioning all over again! But I've gotta hear the ringer so I guess I have no choice. Is it even worth the effort to try and demand a new one or is a refurb my only choice?
