HTC Incredible changing to Super LCD?

Good news for all of you waiting for your HTC Incredible to ship. We heard the rumors about HTC stopping production of certain models with AMOLED screens, so Phil got on the horn and rung up HTC for some answers. HTC tells us that they will be augmenting production with "Super LCD" displays from Sony, but models with AMOLED displays will still be made. They say that they are almost indistinguishable from AMOLED displays, even when side by side. (We'll just have to see, we guess.) The battery consumption is also supposed to be comparable. In the end, this means that we should be seeing some stock on the shelves a bit sooner, and as far as HTC is concerned, they are just as awesome as the original.
Whether or not this means a new model number for the Incredible, Nexus One and Desire is anyone's guess, but we can all relax -- there's no conspiracy afoot. As soon as we're able to get our paws on a model with the new display, you can be sure we'll put it through its paces.

I'll definitely be interested in your and others comments once they've seen the new screens. Seems to me that if the two screens were "indistinguishable" as HTC claims, HTC would not be going through all the hassle of still getting AMOLED screens - unless the Sony screens cost them more (which I doubt). In any event, I'm glad I've already got my DI with the AMOLED!!

I haven't had any hands-on experience with the "Super LCDs", but I LOVE the AMOLED on my Dinc. My 1st exposure to the AMOLED was on the Samsung Rogue I got for my daughter last year. It's just a gorgeous screen.

Have to say I'm a little bit jealous, LCDs overall tend to perform better than any type of LED in direct sunlight, and with my work I'm in the bright sun on a daily basis for multiple hours.

Interesting news/rumors........
Why do ppl call our phones, "Dinc?" Makes it sound like a puny crappy phone or a sound effect when you flick something
You have Android now. Stop whining and complaining that iphone was easy/better... why the hell did you switch for?
If youre going to change phones, be sure you're able to accept "CHANGE" and yes thats a change in how things are done. Its plain and simple
Btw, have a nifty day! (^_^)
Now... wheres my beer???

Re: HTC Incredible changing to Super LCD?
Will the screens still use pentile?

Maybe this news will help shut up the incredible getting phased out stories!

How do you know if yours has an SLCD? Also, when is the switch going to be made, because I am still waiting for 7/9?
-
is there any phone right now with slcd?

If this was the primary cause of the stock issue, they should have made this move 2 months ago.
Standing around acting like BP did them a huge amount of good and got a ton of phones sold.
Not.
