Blown External Speaker

Hi all, just a heads up. Had my Incredible for less than 3 weeks and the external speaker is toasted. Did'nt do anything out of the ordinary, one day mid call with speakerphone it just fizzled. Now it sounds like it's ringing through a plastic sack. Best Buy is taking care of me, and my new one is on the way, but according to web searches, and the Best Buy Reps,this is an issue of sorts that LOTS of people are having right now. Not sure if its a bad batch of speakers or basic desing flaw.

yeah.... only 1-2 membes have reported this on here and got it taken care of right away by Best Buy or Verizon reps

I have to wonder about all the "air horn" and "vevuzala" type apps. Seems to me those just CAN'T be good for your speaker.

my external speaker blew in the same time frame as yours and had my phone replaced by verizon. took it to the verizon store on saturday memorial day weekend and replacement phone arrived 4 days later. so far so good. just for good measure, although i shouldn't have to, i lowered the ringer volume, in call volume, and media volume a couple clicks down. just to be safe.

Same here about a month is what it took for mine . Already got the new one. I just hope it doesn't go again .

For what it's worth, my speaker started crackling yesterday. Took it to the store, got the 'You have to call the 877 number' line. Spent over 30 minutes on the phone with a tech that insisted that the crackling was a software issue that would be corrected in the next software update. Instead of saying what I was thinking (Like, WTF?!?!) I calmly explained that this was a recent issue that rendered a feature of the phone (speakerphone) I use a great deal useless, and impaired the ringtone volume making it more difficult to hear. I only had to repeat this 25 times, stating over and over that the phone was still under warantee and it's current condition was unacceptable before she agreed to send me a replacement, which should be here Friday. Unfortunately, the replacement is a refurb... I'm not overly happy about that and if the phone isn't 100% perfect out of the box I'm sending it right back to them.
