Oh my. What are we going to do with you? The one i'm talking about is in the picture with the list. That's great that there is a similar one...WONDERFUL! But that's not the one I'm talking about. And it's not an improved one, it's the old one. This must be your first android device.

Am I detecting heavy sarcasm here? If so, please tone it down because it came across that way. He was just trying to help.

I am new to android....loving my incredible. Coming from Samsung Omnia and WINmo.
I just can't like the HTC mail widget. I don't need to see the whole freakin email. It appears that the widget component wasn't designed to be widget friendly, the email component itself is fine -the part with the menu option. But what good is a widget if you are constantly looking at the app screen and menu. Why are there no options with view? The clock, bookmarks, calendar, and contacts(people) widgets all have view options for the widget. The message widget also has no other option.

So someone with android/HTC sense -no pun intended- tell me it's my lack of experience and set me straight.

I personally don't like the HTC widget also. I use the GMail app primarily since that's my main server. Works very easy and quick to delete and arrange.

The regular mail app works great, also. Have you checked that one? It might be more to your liking. Its only the list of e-mails and then select the one you want to open.

has anyone revisited the HTC news widget since we obtained root? Would be curious to see if it could be made to work now.

I've tried and still can't get it to work. I've pushed both the com.htc.NewsReaderWidget.apk & NewsReader.apk to /system/app/ but they won't install. I've also tried pushing the com.htc.NewsReaderWidget.odex & NewsReader.odex to /system/app/ along with the APKs but that breaks the phone, I get a constant boot loop til I go back into recovery and remove them. The 4 files were all from a dumped Evo rom.
Now I also have a single file; com.htc.NewsReaderWidget.apk from a Desire dump I've pushed it also but still doesn't install.
Let me be clear I've been able to get the files into /system/app but they still don't work from there. I'd really like to get this working if there is a dev out there that is willing to help out it would be appreciated.

Not sure if anyone cares about this, but the OTA update that leaked on xda-developers not only gives 720P video recording, Wireless N networking, & Mobile Hotspot Capability but it also adds the HTC NEWS READER & WIDGET!!!!
