HTC Quality Control Problems --> They've done it again :(
I couldn't believe my eyes when I read this. It seems that the EVO 4G has another issue which customers are starting to complain about, and it hasn't even been on the market for 10 days yet!
HTC EVO suffering from glass separation issues? -- Engadget
If that isn't bad enough, the EVO 4G suffers from:
1. Horrible battery life (sound familiar?)
2. 30FPS Lock on the display (ouch)
3. Horrendous video recording capabilities which is worse than what our DIs can do (false advertising)
HTC has got to get on the ball

The video recording is only poor quality because they compress it enough to be a usable size. That's just another reason that HD video recording on a phone isn't practical.

I've heard that the battery life on the Evo is actually pretty decent. From what I've been told, there were only a couple sites that complained about the battery life in their review. I don't personally know anyone with an Evo so my knowledge is restricted to the comments I've read in articles about the phone, but I haven't seen many people complaining about it.

Every phone has it's quirks. As far as the battery, I have yet to be dissapointed with my battery, Its been lasting all day before starting to get low with regular usage.
Also agree on the HD video on phone statement. You want pristine HD video get a real HD cam.

ZeroInc, I am not saying this to argue, but my battery life has been HORRIBLE on my DINC. Yesterday, I take it off my charger at 5:30, only use it for some texting, some pictures (maybe 5 pictures in all), maybe 2 quick phone calls and it's dead by 10:30. I know smart phones don't last as long, but that's just ridicules. I am going to buy on ebay 2 regular batteries and external charger, I will have to. During the week, I have it charging while I am at work all day, charging all night, only way it is usable. I can live with it but just worse than I thought it should be. Other than that, I love the phone.

jp, I ordered those same 2 batts + charger on Ebay; havent come in yet, but am seriously considering the 39.95 charger at Staples. Its a reserve that, after being charged, gives ya many hrs by plugging it into the Dinc. That way, ya dont hafta remove the back. Playing golf, using the Golfcard prgram, may be inconvenient to keep changing batts.

If that's all you did and your battery died in 5 hours, then it's defective. These batteries are bad but not THAT bad. Unless you meant 5:30am to 10:30pm.

No, it was pm / pm. Around 5 hours. I did forget until now I used the GPS for about 20 min but still. I think when I get the batteries, I will find out if it's the battery or just how much juice it pulls. I don't know yet. Thanks for the reply.

Something is wrong. I usually start mine up around 5:00am and sometimes don't get home until 6-7pm and still have more than 50% left. I run live wall papers and browse web, send text, email, pics etc. I did invest in 2 motorola car rapid chargers from Amazon to have handy whenever needed.

There have been several people on here with faulty batteries that have had them replaced under warranty with Verizon. I would really suggest you look into that. Sounds like you have a bad one.
