how do u install this? i was expecting an apk file.

I signed up for the beta on swype.com and they sent me a link to activate it on my phone. Is this the same as that?

The file you download is a zip format file (even though it does not have a zip extension). I too would like guidance on how to install.

It's an .apk. I just opened it up in the zip format and it looks like it has .apk properties.

its actually an apk file guys. Just put that extension on the end, throw it on your sd card and use something like apps installer from the market to install it. It is not a zip.

Cool thanks. It saved as a .dat on my system so figured it might be something like that. As much as I've heard about Swype I'm just as excited to try it as I am to get the new phone.

Swype is pretty nice. Really helps if you know the keyboard layout by heart. I really don't use it to much these days, but did for a while on my Droid. I am really looking forward to seeing how the htc keyboard works out on this. I have the one that ported over to the Droid, but am thinking it will be better on an actual HTC. Personally, I really like smart keyboard pro.
