HTC Incredible upgrade-June 2012
This morning my HTC Incredible wanted to install an OS upgrade.
I accepted, and it failed saying I had too much stuff in memory.
In my settings - about phone, System Updates tells my I am up to date.
Is this Deja-Vu all over again?
Anyone else have issues, or know how I can launch that upgrade again?
Thanks

Ok I'm getting really annoyed with these buggy updates from these people. I was able to get the download fine, but now I'm stuck in an booting loop. It only stops when I take the battery out and put it back in. I left it off last night for about 6 hours and then I turned it back on. It seemed to stay on on fine and my alarm went off this morning just fine. But then when I tried opening anything it would forceclose almost immediately. So I restarted it and now its back in its booting loop again.

Same thing on mine! Started on Sunday... Said I didn't have enough space so I got rid of a bunch of apps and know I have about 500mb of free space but the upgrade won't open now! This is so familiar... Hmmm??? I don't know if I even care! The last upgrade really messed my phone up... It reboots every time I get off the internet! Drives me nuts!!

Mine did the same thing last night.
I am still on:
Android Version: 2.3.4
Build number: 4.08.605.2 CL185897 release-keys
Is this what everyone else is on who has NOT rooted?

You need to go in and manage applications and clear data and cache etc. Mostly on the browser and facebook apps etc. Also you need to go and clear out the trash from Gmail if you are using the app. Perhaps the only way to do this is by accessing the web Gmail app cuz the Gmail app for android appears to have a bug(s). Once you release the memory the low memory alert / error will go away. Don't know if that will allow the update to reappear or not. Also can't address if the update will properly install or work....

The current update is now: 2.3.4 Android, 4.08.605.15 CL389630 Build Number. HTC is not going to fix the memory issue from what I have been told. Verizon and Google have no control over it as HTC programers broke something with the 2.3.4 android update. You can see where the issue is by going to Settings, SD & Phone storage, then scroll til you see "application data storage". Once that falls close to 10MB you will always have the memory issue. This is not your SD card or internal memory but another partition and for some reason the software now just keeps writing to it and never resets. You can buy yourself time by clearing out cashes to apps and uninstalling some, but at some point it will still not matter. The only way I have found to reset the number back to 149MB is to do a Factory Reset. It seems to buy me about 4 months before the next factory reset...thankfully I am up on contract at the end of this month. Hope that helps
FYI, the latest update had something to do with the camera.

My HTC Incredible was upgraded automatically last night (6/27/12). Once it completed, I noticed I was no longer able to email people from my contact list. I use to just go to the contact list, select a person, then click "send email" and it would open gmail and I could send an email. Now if I click to email a contact, it is asking me to choose a mail provider, 1) Exchange Active Sync or 2) Other (Pops/IMAP). I never had to do this before and my Gmail apps are still on my phone. Also, when I chose option 2 - "Other (POPS/IMAP), it made me enter my gmail address and password and went through to create the account. However, this is added to the "Mail" App rather than launching my Gmail App. I don't want to use my gmail address using the Mail App. I want it to launch Gmail as it has the last two years I've been using this phone. I also cannot email when I go on an internet site either. For example, I use to be able to click on someone's email address link and launch Gmail to email them. I get that same stupid message to choose a mail provider (basically set up exchange active sync or Other(POPs/IMAP).

Mine keeps rebooting every 2 or 3 minutes. I am seriously about to throw it against a wall. I wish I never accepted the update! Why is it so buggy now?
