restarts after using gps or internet
Have a Droid inc that I have been trying to monitor restart issues. Ive had the phone for about a year and a half and in the last y months if I'm using nag or internet phone will get warm and restart. I rooted appx 3 months ago and am running 2.2. I have a battery minder app that tells the temp and status. I have seen temps of 44.2 C and battery volts from 3.67-3.89. I tried this with a different battery(both stock) and same results. It will hit 42 without the charger and 44 with the charger. What's making the phone so hot running these programs? I've tried the eraser on contacts of battery with no change. Phone starting to go out?

Annoying as h ee double hockey sticks isn't it? Mine would restart after just about anything that taxed the ram, internet, GMaps, navigation, almost anything. I tried factory resets, then read that factory resets make the problem worse. I tried any number of cache cleaning apps, history erasers, resource managers... I would suggest rooting, but I see you have. For me it was GB causing my issues, however, and I noticed this with my Voyager too, that when it hit 20 months everything started falling apart. I've since given my phone to the kids and it's like a whole different phone now, than say 4 or even 3 months ago. I don't know if they come with a built in self destruct timer, to force you to buy a new phone or if 20 months is all they can take. I wish I had some real answers for you.

I am rooted like you said but still have bloat. I think I need an app that allows me to delete the bloat, city id, and all the other stuff I dont want. The phone isnt filled with apps and rarely I get low space notifications and clearing the cache on apps seems to work with that. also told there was an overtemp warning(notification lights flashed) but I have never seen anything like that.

You're not fully rooted? I'm pretty sure titanium backup even the free one will allow you to disable even uninstall the bloat.

I did the unrevoked root but not with different Roms, kernels or anything. I have astro, and titanium back up. I just tried to uninstall them in the applications section under settings not with those apps.

Titanium has an option to freeze apps. I would do that rather than outright deleting them just incase you delete an essential app that you need, you can go back and just unfreeze it. I don't, however, think the bloat is the source of the problem but it wouldn't hurt to try. How long are you running GPS/Internet before it reboots?

I will say that after the battery switch to other battery phone was still hot and resetting(this time with no apps running just charging) and it has since only don it once while phone still hot but not charging. I havent had time to test this battery a whole lot more.

Do you have SetCPU? If not, you can buy it in the market for a couple bucks or I think you can find it free if you search XDA. You can try to use that to dial down your processor speed and see if that helps with the overheating. It's likely a hardware issue but if you want to troubleshoot, SetCPU might help. Usually overheating is product of overclocking too much or messing with voltage but since you didn't flash any kernels this shouldn't be the case for you. Still, you can lower your phone from 1ghz to maybe .8 with SetCPU and see if that helps. It's more of a bandaid fix (if it works) but it's all about eliminating potential causes when troubleshooting.

Honestly I don't know anything about rooting, but uninstalling bloat is what rooting its all about. I'd hate to see you install a Rom just to get rid of something so trivial as a few apps if that wasn't your intention. Check the rooting section for uninstalling apps. Maybe you do?
