tried with the other battery and not even 5 minutes and it restarted with and without the charger with highest temp 38.6*C. I will try the setcpu app and clock it down and see if that works. Thanks for the opinions so far...

I have all the same problems and have never rooted, changed battery, gotten special apps to deal with it. I'm just glad to hear I am not the only one. I have had it with this phone after a full month and a half of multiple factory resets, constant rebooting, reboots loops, cache clearing tricks, etc. this all happens randomly, but definitely always with google navigation which was my favorite feature. Now can't use at all if I want to get to where I am going. It just recently started failing when I simply use google directions. I've found no real explanations for any of this. I'm not a heavy app user. It really takes a lot for me to give up on something. I loved this phone for a good 18 months. It's simply unacceptable for this phone to fail in less than two years with no help. I'm switching over to iPhone. I just hope I can make it until mid April to get my full upgrade discount. It is more and more difficult. Text won't even work now after yesterday's episode. Looks like I'll be doing yet another factory reset.

I feel your pain. It was such a great phone too. The only thing that saved me was my renewal. If you have insurance maybe you can convence them to exchange it. If the exchange comes with 2.2 then you can ignore the update and if not maybe it will work better on different equipment. Not everyone is having terrible horrible issues so there must be some difference. You might get lucky.

Seriously reconsider. Remember the good times? If you go Apple you'll regret it for sure. Check out the Rezound. Maybe even the Razor. Skip the Galaxy Nexus, you think your Inc has issues you should see some of the posts on that one. Hell by April there is likely to be some other next great thing. I strongly recommend that if you have a friend with an iPhone you ask to play with it or go to a store before you make a hasty jump. I have a friend who went from a crappy DX to an iPhone and even with it's problems wishes they were back on Android. Check out some reviews and some vs. on YouTube before you get locked into another 20 month contract. Of course you could always switch and check it out then return it if it doesn't live up to your expectations. The problem is you only get one return with Big Red. In the meantime think about an insurance exchange. If you don't have insurance, they used to let you sign up anytime, wait a week and exchange it then.

I don't know what issues you're referring to here, but we have 2 Galaxy Nexus phones in our household and are not having any problems with them. I'm also part of the Galaxy Nexus forum and it's not being flooded with issues either.

It's okay that you went with the Rezound and not the Galaxy Nexus. That is your choice. But don't bash it unless you have one...

Forums exist for issues. For every positive post there are way more negative or questioning posts. Even the iPhone isn't perfect.
Yes there are some growing pains with the Nexus but it is not an unreliable device like so many Incs have become since the last update. My Inc updates went flawlessly except my camera flash now goes off before the photo is taken, making flash used pictures be too dark. That is a big issue to me since 99% of my photos taken are on the fly with my phone.
With a Nexus or iPhone you'll never need to be concerned that a good update becomes a poc after Verizon Verizonizes it.

Admittedly I don't own and haven't owned a GN. I have however read post after post of people leave the GN for issues. I wasn't really bashing the phone just restating things that people who owned it were saying. Glad that you were one of the lucky few who either got one that works or are the user that doesn't do the things that others would like to do but can't.

    Just scanning the first page of the AndroidCentral GN forum;
Mic cutting out mid call, seems wide spread
    Data Problems
    Keyboard woes
    Music pausing once received notification
Had my first random shut off
MMS won't send with WiFi enabled
    MTP is ridiculous
Can't transfer pics from computer to GNex

And none of these are the big issues that pushed users away.
Here is 12 pages 469 posts of people debating whether to keep of leave the GN for the Rezound. With dozens of people exodusing away from the GN.

Two pages 68 posts on the Razr forum about the GN, with the originating poster closing with "Final verdict is the Gnex is a cheap p.o.s. and you should avoid it."

Sorry if I got the wrong idea.

I was tempted to write a long response, but I won't because it's pointless, moving on...

I was tempted to write a short reply, but... No, seriously, tweebee I've read many of your posts on this forum and you offer a lot of good advice, and knew a lot about the Inc, and I really wasn't bashing the GN. I just wasn't saying anything nice about it. After all I did suggest that the poster read reviews and check out vs posts. In the end it all comes down to preference and what you can live with, or without. No phone is perfect. That being said, there are a lot of people leaving the device. I would dare say more than any other single device.

I do wish my links in the reply didn't show up as red, it just makes my post seem really hateful and it wasn't meant to be that harsh. I only wanted to point out that while I haven't owned one I have seen/read a lot about them.

update: well I am still having the restart issues even after under clocking it by a bit. Last night my son was watching you tube cartoons and it started the faithful restart loop. well it did something it has never done before. It changed some sound notification profiles, deleted apps and causing apps to force close once the phone turns on. one in perticular titanium backup. I cant even access titanium backup to try a restore. I am still getting update notification but I haven't paid for the app to shut it off mainly because I dont want to buy more apps for my pos. again I'm on a
