Oh my God, that's an awesome find! Apps installed to card, WiFi Hotspot, oh this is gonna be good. I'm psyched about WiFi Hotspot without having to root! Outstanding! This looks to be a VERY significant release!
And to think we are pumped up about this update and they are already saying the next update, Gingerbread, will be Q4 2010.
This is definitely one of the most significant developments on Android I can think of. The SD card app installation should put us on par with the iPhone for number of apps to install while the WiFi Hotspot should jump us ahead.
What's funny, Apple seems to do more things to make people Jailbreak the phone. Android seems to be doing more things to make it so people DON'T have to root the phone. Interesting to watch the developments.
If Google made it possible to flash custom ROMs without rooting, I probably wouldn't bother with rooting. I don't that would ever happen though.
Smartphone tech is on such an exponential rise it is literal mindboggling! I can only imagine what the smartphone of 2020 will be like!!
EDIT: [b]Everyone needs to check out this pre-review of Froyo![b]

Coming from a blackberry on Verizon, I'm not too excited.
If new firmware releases are the same on android as they are on blackberrys for Verizon, then we won’t get 2.2 until 2.3 is out. The lack of quick o.s. update release is one of the things I dislike about Verizon.
We will probably get 2.2 sooner once a root for the incredible is available, than an official Verizon update Once Verizon does update, it’ll probably be tweaked in some way, most likely non tether/hotspot.
But again, this is only from previous experiences with a blackberry on the Verizon network.
Will we be charged to use Wifi Hotspot/Tethering?
