    Step-by-step instructions for using itunemywalkman?

    Hi, I'm a Mac guy running 10.4.11. I know how to add music from my mac to my Incredible, but I want to add my iTunes playlists too. It seems like the only syncing program out there that will work with Mac 10.4.11 is itunemywalkman. I downloaded it and have played around a lot with it but I cannot get it to upload playlists to the incredible. Can someone please provide step-by-step instructions for using itunemywalkman and my particular setup? Thanks! Or, suggest a syncing system that will work with my setup? Everything I have found is good for only 10.5 or Windows...

    Just an idea... try creating a folder on your desktop and putting the songs from the playlist in that folder... then place that folder on your memory card. I know this doesn't have anything to do with itunemywalkman but thought it might help in the meantime.

    I was just researching this myself! Here's what I did and everything seems to be working:

    After downloading iTuneMyWalkman:

    1. Connect your HTC Incredible as a Disk Drive
    2. Launch iTuneMyWalkman
    3. Edit Preferences
    4. ->General tab
    Define the path to either your Incredible's storage or its miniSD card (e.g. MP3 folder)
    4. ->Playlists tab
    Select "Sync Music", check "From Selected Playlists" and Specify which playlists you'd like to transfer to your phone
    5. ->Encoding tab
    Re-encode copied files with: select "MP3 Encoder"
    6. Click "Save"
    7. Click "Synchronize Now"

    Hope this helps!

    How to upload your iTunes playlists to your Incredible from a Mac running OSX 10.4.11

    Thanks Beaker, here's a more detailed account of what I ultimately wound up doing, some very important stuff about iTunes compatibility and the Incredible music player and how to deal with that:

    How to upload your iTunes playlists to your Incredible from a Mac running OSX 10.4.11 using itunemywalkman.

    iTunes Agent needs Windows; Songbird needs OSX 10.5.

    So, what to do if your Mac can't run higher than 10.4.11?

    IMPORTANT NOTE--I'M NOT A COMPUTER EXPERT. The following worked for me. If you try to do the same, you assume all responsibility for your actions.

    Step 1.

    I hooked my HTC Incredible up to my Mac via the USB chord. Both the phone storage and SD Card mounted to my desktop without any trouble. In "Settings" under "menu" on the main screen of the Incredible, I selected "Connect to PC" and under "Default connection type" I chose "Disk drive." I figured out which was my SD Card drive and which was my phone storage drive because the SD Card drive was totally empty, and phone storage drive had some folders in it, one of which was called "MP3."

    Step 2.

    The music I purchased from iTunes was DRM (Digital Rights Managed) protected and would not play on my Incredible; it wouldn't even show up. Music added to iTunes from my CD collection apparently was not DRM protected and worked fine. The work-around (that doesn't violate iTunes terms of use) is to upgrade to iTunes Plus and then you can upgrade all of your iTunes purchased music at a discount. (For me, that was about 150 songs for $32.) Then, you download it all again (you have a choice of either keeping or discarding the old versions), supposedly at a higher quality and without DRM protection. The newly replaced music now plays on my Incredible.

    Step 3.

    I downloaded the iTuneMyWalkman open source application and installed it on my Mac from this link: iTuneMyWalkman

    Step 4.

    I launched iTuneMyWalkman and under "Edit Preferences" in "General" I clicked "Change" and browsed over to the the SD Card and created a new folder called "MP3." I think this was an important step to call this folder "MP3," but I could be wrong. (I also tried browsing over to the phone storage drive and found a folder already called "MP3" on it.) I then created another folder inside the MP3 folder and named it the name of the playlist I was about to import from iTunes.
    IMPORTANT-- iTuneMyWalkman will erase everything in the folder it uploads to, so I always make sure that there is nothing in the folder I have selected. Of course, if I create a new folder, it's empty so I'm good.

    Other settings in "General" Size limit in MB: 0

    Then, still in "Edit Preferences," I clicked "Playlists" and checked "Sync Music" and then the selected the radio button "From selected playlists," and then selected the playlist that I wanted to upload.

    Then, I clicked "Write playlists in: Unicode (UTF-8)" I changed nothing else.

    Then, still in "Edit Preferences," I chose "Folders" and then, next to "Number of directory levels," I selected "1."

    Then, I hit "Save" which closed the "Edit Preferences" window.

    Step 5.

    I hit the "Synchronize Now" button and iTuneMyWalkman did its thing, uploading the songs and playlist to the preselected folder.

    Step 6.

    I dragged both the SD Card drive and the phone storage drive to the trash and unhooked the phone from the the USB. I then confirmed that the songs were uploaded and that playlist was in the correct order.

    Step 7.

    I added more playlists and more songs by repeating Steps 4-6.

    Another thing that I found interesting:

    Using TextWrangler, I was able to open the play list file (called a .m3u file) on the SD Card and rearrange the song order.

    Just butting in here, but have you tried double twist? I have had great success using it to get music AND play-lists onto my phone. I don't use it to listen to them, but it gets my music onto my sd card for me easily!

    From my Incredible. It's ... incredible!

    The sd card drive is the one that has a file named update.zip and folders such as downloads , my album , media

    Or you can check to see what the max storage space is from your computer for each drive.

    Easiest option is to use the card reader that came with your dinc and plug your sd card in

    Hey, I just got an Incredible for Christmas and have been trying to figure out how to sync music using Itunemywalkman. I followed Ian's instruction to the t but for some reason when I synchronize only one song gets synced? Anyone have an idea why? Thanks

    I renamed my card to SDCard and my DINC to Incredible so I could tell the difference between the 2 Volumes (the initially both show up as NO NAME which isn't very helpful) this won't break anything.

    Running 10.6.6 with iTunes 10.1.1 (4)

    will try to post some screenshots later (tomorrow?) if i can remember

    First time I'm using iTuneMyWalkman..... it's still 'Collecting data from iTunes' so don't know if I have it setup correctly yet

    Ordered 5/26/2010 @ 19:00 at Verizon store
    - Ship Date: 6/16/2010 (what I was told in the store)

    This worked!! Thank you! I have been looking for instructions and was having a very difficult time. This was simple. Rather than placing the new folder with my playlist on the memory card, I just drug it onto my phone icon. yay!
