Alternatives to Handcent?
I'm sure a thread like this exists but I couldn't find it through search so just point me to it if I'm being redundant.
Anyways, I pretty much live off of my DINC these days and haven't moved my laptop from my desk in months. As such, I rely on the DINC pretty much at all times. I love Handcent, but it seems to be crashing like crazy recently, and I can't afford that kind of downtime while I wait for it to unfreeze and reboot, or go through the hassle of removing my Otterbox Commuter to pull the battery.
Does anyone know any good SMS Managers that are a bit more stable than Handcent? I'd try just about anything comparable.

Go SMS is what I use. From what I have heard Handcent is pretty stable. Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling it? Sometimes when apps update they become unstable until you install a fresh copy.

I'd say its something other than Handcent, mine is rock solid. If rooted it may be issues with the ROM.

That could be the case as it only really started acting up when I flashed to Redemption 2.3

Go has a built in save to SD feature .
I've found Handcent to get flaky on occasion BUT it's usually not the culprit, another app usually is causing Handcent to act up . A few updates ago a bug got thru that caused crashes but a fix was out the next day.

I just added aCCleaner(cache cleaner) just now and immediately my Watchdog started sending alerts that my Go Launcher, nothing to do with each other, was running 79%cpu, then 75%, etc. I've never had a moments problem with android.core apps going that high. As soon as I uninstalled it the alerts stopped

Handcent has always worked perfectly for me,
Once all my messages magically got deleted.. but that might not be related to handcent

Since I have tried handcent, I have had no problems. I love handcent. I did try chomp sms but heard that it drains the battery. So I just stayed with handcent. As for the rootinging or roms causing the problems, I dont think that is the case cuz I change roms a lot maybe 5 times a week... LOL . I have had no problems still. One thing is if you do flash a new rom and use titanium back up you cant restore the app and data, you can only do the app. If you are restoring app and data that might be your problem.
