Go Launcher and the Notification bar: NOT totally hidden.
Hello All,
I'm a total noob so if this is a question whose answer I have not yet found but exists in the forums, please let me know.
Here is my dilemma:
I want to hide the notification bar, and have a phone that is NOT rooted. Currently I am running Go Launcher, which works OK but still allows a user to see and pull down the notification bar when they are in an application. In other words, Go Launcher can hide it while you are in the Home screens, but it returns after you open ANY app at all, including when you make a phone call.
My question is, is there some way to simply turn this darn thing off once and for all? Forever banishing it from sight? Thanks everyone!

I think mountainbikermark uses Go. Hopefully he'll chime in.

Most simple apps are hard coded to display the bar, no changing in system settings, or home screen settings, is going to stop it from appearing. But, of course most games, and some other apps, the status bar will be gone... as they were coded to do so.
Unless the app developer (like the the GO team did with Go Launcher) gives you the option to disable within the app, you have no choice and will be stuck with what the developer (which includes Google and HTC) chose to do.

Ugh, that is obnoxious. So there is no way, even after rooting, to ghost, hide, or change the notification bar across all apps within Android? You'd think that this kind of adjustment would be welcome under a rooting scenario.
Even adjusting the height of the status bar so that it cannot be pulled down to show notifications would be helpful.
Thanks everyone for your replies!
