The damn thing ended up breaking, I had to open it up because the AUX had to be held down for it to get the proper sound. Turns out it just needed some resoldering, so since I don't have a soldering gun, I just tape it back firmly in place. Well I guess I pulled on something too hard, because the damn thing wouldn't turn on when I tried testing it in my car, so I ended up just throwing it away because it really just wasn't worth the trouble.
If you're still interested I see it listed on Overstock for $8 or so. It's not a bad product at all really, it just wasn't made very well.

I have the Motorola T505 and live/work near/in NYC where there are radio signals all around. I gave up using it as a FM modulator because every station came through with static in it. I still use it as a speakerphone with its built-in speaker, and it works well for that. The in-ear devices bother me, but this speaker is loud enough to use as long as you're not doing 45mph+ with the windows open.
I still use the cassette adapter for the car radio because I've been too lazy to hard-wire an aux input and my speakers suck anyway.
FWIW, I used to have a Monster brand FM Modulator for my old ipod mini years back, and it was strong enough to eliminate static on the unused radio stations even around NYC. It was the kind that plugged into the ipod port though, not the headphone jack. Not sure if that makes a difference.

I'm looking for both a way to play music through my car speakers, as well as play music around my house. Is there a portable device that can do both, or is this wishful thinking? (My one experience with an FM transmitter wasn't good--I spent most of my time changing channels. I'm even open to the idea of bypassing my car speakers completely, but that seems such a waste.) Suggestions?
