    Command One Headset issue

    Hi Everyone,

Figured I'd try my luck here, hopefully someone may have an answer. I recently bought a Motorola Command One headset. It worked for a few days, then all of a sudden started making a strange sound over and over. I do get a red blinking light on it, but looking at the Motorola support and the book that came with it, I dont think it has anything to do with the problem. Basically the noise, for lack of a better term, like like a pulsating noise that just goes over and over and doesnt stop. It seems to rise slightly in pitch as well. It doesnt sound like static, I'm not sure how to describe it other than just "interference". The device also will not pair with the phone anymore.

Might anyone who has this or any headset have an idea if there is anything I can try to do, or does it simply sound to be defective? Thanks everyone

The red light is the battery needs charging. Try charging it then see if it still acts up. Moto is notorious for poor consistent quality in its bluetooth earpieces. It really sounds like you have a bad unit.
While I don't have that model I've had several over the years, tried many more , and found the reputation to be accurate. Only my 710 lasted beyond a few weeks.

Thanks for the reply. You know, the first thing I thought was to charge it, so when it started happening, I put it on the charger. Even after a few hours on the charger it was still doing this. Thats why i began wondering if the red light was an error code.

It gets even stranger, all of a sudden, this morning, without doing anything, it seems to be working. I put it on my ear and heard it successfully pair with the phone. Weird. I'm not convinced It wont happen again though.

I wish I knew of Motorola's reputation as you said. I chose this model because I drive a lot at work and I get frequent calls and text while I am driving. This was the only headset I knew of that I could respond to everything via voice. Is there a better model from a different company that is worth considering? Thanks again for the reply.

Take a look at the Jawbone series. The latest models have some really cool apps you install ,Yes you read that correctly, for speech 2 text, driving directions, etc and the sound quality is excellent them, the noise reduction is the best in the industry. I have been using my Jawbone Icon for well over a year and with satisfaction.
Summer of 2010 I was at the beach and the USS Abraham Lincoln was coming into Norfolk. If you've ever seen/heard a carrier group come in, it's a LOUD experience when the F18s do their fly over for hours in groups of 3. The hotel we were staying at echoed the thunderous sound as well. It was truly awe inspiring like the hand of God shaking the ground .The Icon blocked the noise completely according to those I was talking to as well as the wind and thunder of a storm that night.
Bluant makes a good quality lineup as well.

Thanks for the suggestion Mountainbikermark. I'll have to look into that. After my earlier reply that the headset started working, this morning I got up and turned it on to use it for my drive into work and its doing the same thing again. There definitely must be something wrong with it. I need to return it, or at least exchange it.

Hey Mountainbikermark, I just browsed the Jawbone site and wanted to be clear on something. M I to understand you have to create an account and join a dite in order to use some of the voice functions?

The biggest reason for me having this is because the CommandOne read my texts to me, in addition to being able to call. Will Jawbone's unit do this? Most of the others I've seen so far only let you text via voice, they dont transfer your incoming texts to you via the bluetooth.

Just wanted to be clear before I consider it. Thank you,

You have to download a program to your computer and use it to make non standard changes and add apps. They call the changes apps as well. The ones like what they call the theme need to be done via the program. Things like change the speaking voice from standard male/female to cowboy or sexy female they consider theme changes.
The out of the box redial can be changed to a specific contact instead of regular redial, a2dp(music and podcast) can be removed , etc are changes. There are also some specific apps for driving directions , texting app and such. You can also update your firmware, which they have supported nicely to fix bugs, improve battery, add features and the like.
I've played around on it but only use it to update my firmware because my phone already does what the apps add, like Swype and other keyboards have speech to text, Handcent can read to me ,Nav has driving directions, etc.
I'm not familiar with exactly how the Bluant version works
    Hope that helps

I've been thinking (scary I know). Have you tried Vlingo on the market ? Check that one out . It's made to make the phone totally hands free capable and works pretty well with bluetooth

I have not tried Vlingo, but I'll look it up. I know with the CommandOne it used MotoSpeak, so maybe Vlingo is similar and would work with other headsets. I sent the headset back yesterday and for now asked for an exchange. If I get another that breaks inside of a week, I'll ask for my money back.
