Phone got wet and it will not do anything. Is there in chance for recovery?

Take out the battery.
Put the phone in a plastic bag containing rice.
In a day or so, the rice may have drawn out enough moisture for the phone to become active again.

We had to get the phone exchanged from Verizone. The rice did not work. Thank you for your suggestion though.
