Backup Attempts go to Hboot?

I want to try and give Miui a shot, but for some reason every time I try to create a back up with Clockwork Recovery in ROM Manager, my phone just resets itself and goes into Hboot, instead of the usual black screen that says everything it's backing up. What's up??

Try doing a backup in recovery itself (not through ROM Manager)- RM gives some people some problems.
