My Dinc hates me!
Okay so I'm new to rooting a HTC Incredible. I have the ability to use Mac or Windows (via BootCamp). I've rooted a Moto Droid FRD22 and had it for almost a month and decided to switch to the HTC Incredible. On the Mac side I followed the steps and set my phone to use USB Debugging and make connect to computer setting to "ask me" and all the bells and whistles. I installed unrevolked3 and plugged it in and it read my phone and I pressed okay "The One-Click Rooting Step" and my phone rebooted and went into the bootlogger and it sat their for a minute and the unrevolked.app said it was installing the root and then it rebooted and the log on unrevolked followed suit and I reach the step where it says it's okay to stop now if it doesn't work and then restart and my phone boots up as normal and still it's unrooted (no superuser).
I also tried it on the windows side and I installed the proper APK for the phone and installed the drivers. Went into Device Manager and my computer was reading my Phone as Android Phone and I connected my device and ran unrevolked3 for windows and I pressed okay again and it did the same thing the Mac side did, it just booted up as normal and still no superuser.
I'm just wondering if I'm missing a step. I've looked up dozens of guides and tones of videos and I'm following them step by step.
I'm running Froyo 2.2 btw.
I tried searching the forum but I didn't quiet find the same issue with other issues so I had to post a new thread.
I'd appreciate any help I could get.

Did you accept the latest OTA? If so, you won't be able to root successfully with unrEVOked until the team updates their tool. The latest OTA closed the loopholes the current version exploits to gain root.

I didn't install an OTA on this phone so far. It's only 4 days old, I bought it from ebay brand new from a guy and he didn't say when it was made so I don't know what the most current update would be for the dinc.
Would their be a change in the about phone? Kernel change or anything like that?

You definitely have the hboot driver, right?
Hmm.. isn't there a separate set of instructions for slcd screens and amoled screens? Is there a way for this guy to find out which his phone is?
-
No, rooting is the same for AMOLED and SLCD phones up until the last step. Make sure you follow these instructions: http://www.incredibleforum.com/forum...ed-3-21-a.html
Sometimes the tool doesn't work the first time you run it but from 2 separate computers it's suspicious. If you boot into hboot, what does your phone say? (Power + volume down at the same time).

Check your build number. Needs to be 3.21 to root not 3.26
