Please help me root my phone
I'm trying to play gameloft games and it keeps saying incompatible so I've decided to finally root my phone. First of all, I am really paranoid about bricking my phone and I really really don't wanna brick my phone because if I do, I will get killed by my parents. I have the old model of HTC Droid Incredible 1 with SLCD screen(I think it's SLCD, I bought it 2 weeks ago and when I boot up the phone it first appears with a black screen with light) and 2.3.4 OS
Can someone give me a step by step tutorial on this, this is the first time I've ever rooted something in my life. All I want to do is be able to change my build prop file so I can play gameloft games, nothing else.

I did but there's so much guides and I don't know which one to use and I don't want to follow the wrong guide because I heard that some people followed the wrong guide and almost bricked their phone.

If you really heard about a wrong guide, then don't follow that one.

Can you link me to one? Some say it's for SLCD screen htc incredible but how do I know what OS the guide is for? The guide doesn't say. I have 2.3.4 but what if the guide was made for 2.2 but it doesn't even say.
I found a guide right here but it's super confusing, I can't even understand it, http://androidforums.com/incredible-...get-s-off.html I'm a super noob I just want a step by step guide on how to root.

Is this a good guide to follow?

It's made in 2010, it seems outdated.

[How To] Root 2.3.4/downgrade and Get S-off - Android Forums I'm a super noob I just want a step by step guide on how to root.
This is the right guide to root 2.3.4. However, if you are very new at this, I would strongly advise against it until you do more homework and understand more about rooting and its benefits. People root for many reason, but rooting so that you can play a game is usually not one of them. If the app says that your phone is not compatible now, chances are, it still won't be compatible after you root.

I looked on lots of forums and they said all you need to do is change your build.prop file to a phone that is compatible with gameloft games. And I think I know some stuff about rooting, like it lets you access the part where it's protected so you don't screw up your phone and it lets you overclock the phone or change its pixel density. But I don't really care about all that I just want to change my build.prop file.

Do you think this one will work too?

It seems much much more simple but are they the same?
